Vision & Mission

Rebecca and the team at Life in Action find solutions to every barrier, whether a physical restriction caused by sports injury or disease process, to motivational challenges.

We are passionate about assisting all who come through our doors to find the best outcome for their needs. We work across the lifespan, from the aspiring or elite athlete to the elderly with multiple health conditions in prevention, management and recovery from all elements of injury and disease.

Life in Action bring passion, dedication, compassion and innovation to every client we serve, forging solid relationships to create a sense of team and inclusion between clients and practitioners alike.

We are sensitive to the variations in physical and medical history, psychological and emotional profiles and spiritual and cultural backgrounds of our clients and our communities and employ our friendly, welcoming and inclusive approach to all who pass us by. We are supportive of finding solutions that are both meaningful and helpful to our clients in a safe, supportive and non-discriminatory manner.

Rebecca Hallam

Rebecca Hallam

Rebecca Hallam has worked as an Exercise Physiologist since 2001, graduating from what was then the University of Ballarat (now Federation University) in one of the early cohorts of the Graduate Diploma in Exercise Rehabilitation.

Rebecca has worked across many facets of Exercise Physiology across Victoria, as well as working in the disability sector in the UK. Rebecca’s open and friendly nature and strong people reading skills allow her to establish rapport with her clients and colleagues alike through a genuine interest in who they are and what they enjoy.

Rebecca loves all sport, has a passion for her family’s horses and pursues a variety of hobbies and interests including sewing, reading and writing. A keen netballer and swimmer she has employed many forms of exercise for her own health and she loves the challenge of finding the best fit of exercise and physical activity to bring her clients to full function.

Joel Brett completed a Bachelor of Exercise Science/Masters of Exercise Physiology degree at La Trobe University, Bendigo, graduating in 2021.  Joel grew up in Tallygaroopna, north of Shepparton, relocating to Bendigo in 2017 for University.  On completion of his studies Joel made the decision to move to Melbourne with his partner Maddi to enjoy a change of scenery.

Growing up, Joel played a mixture of sports including tennis, soccer, football and cricket, remaining heavily involved in both cricket and football.  Joel currently plays football for Golden Square FNC in the Bendigo Football League, and Life in Action are proud to be his player sponsor for 2022.  Other hobbies outside of work include going to the gym and socialising with mates.

Joel works full time with Life in Action, seeing clients across our Niddrie and Coolaroo clinics.  Joel has a warm engaging nature, to which his clients have warmed and he has fit in perfectly to our team environment.

Iliana Zafiriou is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist who graduated from her Masters of Clinical Exercise Physiology at Deakin University in 2021.  Iliana writes that “I have always had a passion for exercise and health.  Growing up I had a go at pretty much every sport there was, but followed through with basketball and Soccer.”

Whilst studying, Iliana had different roles and opportunities being a high school sports coach for AFL, futsal and outdoor soccer; as well as being a Personal Trainer and Gym Instructor at a YMCA.

Between completing her Masters and achieving Accreditation as an Exercise Physiologist Iliana worked at a clinic specialising in neurological conditions, particularly spinal cord injuries, and Iliana brings her skills and interests in neurological conditions in to her work with Life in Action.

Outside of work Iliana plays Australian Rules Football locally and in the VFLW, as well as enjoying weekly basketball and the occasional strength and conditioning session.  She loves going out to see and try new things, and has missed travelling over recent years, particularly seeing her family in Greece.     Iliana is married to Billy and has recently welcomed a fur baby in the form of a Staffy in to her life.

Iliana works primarily from our Melton site and is available on Monday’s and Thursday’s.
